Biography
Yousef Azarakhsh, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, Department of Basic Sciences and Pathobiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Razi University, Kermanshah, Iran
Dr. Yousef Azarakhsh began his professional career at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Razi University, in 2004. He received his M.Sc. in Microbiology in 2009 and earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Tehran in 2016. Since 2023, he has been serving as a tenured faculty member in the Department of Basic Sciences and Pathobiology at Razi University.
His teaching and research focus on microbiology, human and animal health, antimicrobial resistance, zoonotic diseases, molecular diagnosis, molecular epidemiology, medical and veterinary mycology, and the identification of bioactive natural products, particularly those derived from medicinal plants. His research adopts an interdisciplinary approach, integrating molecular biology, microbial genomics, biotechnology, and the One Health concept.
Dr. Azarakhsh teaches courses in Microbiology, Bacteriology, Mycology, and Microbiological Laboratory Techniques, with a strong emphasis on developing students' critical thinking, research skills, and problem-solving abilities. His research findings have been published in reputable national and international scientific journals. He is a member of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM), the Iranian Society for Microbiology, the Iranian Biological Society, and the Iranian Society of Medical Mycology.
His long-term research vision is to develop innovative strategies for combating antimicrobial resistance and emerging infectious diseases through the application of advanced technologies, including microbial genomics, metagenomics, nanobiotechnology, and artificial intelligence.
